Cairoli Races Into Second Place In The MX1 Championship
After a fantastic result in Round 4 of the MX1 Championship in Brazil where Tony came second he has once again has given a very strong performance in Round 5 in St. Jean d’Angely, France to finish second again pushing the Champion even higher up the MX1 Standings.
The French MX track is notorious for its steep climbs and hills and is obviously most familiar to fan favourite Steven Frossard who went on to win the first moto and come second in the second heat on his Monster Energy Yamaha, sending the crowd wild. Sporting the number 222 and riding the Redbull Teka KTM 350cc bike, Cairoli managed to finish a very respectable second in the first heat and third in the second heat, giving him an overall position of second. Tony finished with much better points than both Clement Desalle and Max Nagl who came in third and seventh respectively overall, hurtling him into second in the MX1 Standings with 193 points, only six points behind the leader Desalle.
So with Round 5 of the MX1 Championship in Agueda, Portugal only a week away the future looks very good for Tony Cairoli. If he can keep putting out strong performances each week he will hopefully move into first on the MX1 Standings but only time will tell whether the Champion can retain his title and we sure hope at Brux Sport that he does!
